Doce de Leite Cafe opened its doors on Merchant Street with a simple belief: that the best coffee experiences don't happen in drive-thru lanes — they happen when someone takes the time to grind the beans right in front of you, when the pastry case is full of things made that morning, and when the person behind the counter knows you take your coffee with a splash of oat milk.

We draw inspiration from Brazil's café culture — the slow afternoons, the shared desserts, the way a good cup of coffee can turn a Tuesday into something worth remembering. Newark didn't need another place to grab fuel and leave. It needed a place to stay.
